Giving youth a voice

Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) was launched in June 2006 to empower youths in underserved communities to communicate their ideas, exhibit their potential, and take action in their communities using cutting-edge multimedia tools. Today, AYV has touched more than 150,000 youth and 8,200 educators in schools and out-of-school programs in 50 countries. Each year, Adobe employees look forward to volunteering for AYV events across the globe.

Earlier this month, 22 educators from Uganda, India, Nepal, Thailand, Romania, Russia, East Timor, Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia were hosted in Adobe’s Noida office in India for an AYV Educators Summit. The focus of the summit was to prepare educators to train others about the AYV program. These educators had to create their very own instructional videos for webinars and conferences. On hand to assist them with production and editing tips were volunteers from Adobe’s Digital Imaging team Noida.

The Educators Summit was followed by AYV year end celebrations in Delhi and Bangalore. Students under the AYV program in India showcased their movies created over the year. 22 schools each in Delhi and Bangalore screened their films to an audience of over 600 children (each), led by Adobe-in-Action Committee volunteers. Ramesh Aravind (Actor, Writer, Director) was the Chief Guest at the Bangalore event. Today, there are more than 80 AYV programs in India, concentrated in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Orissa.

We Prescribe a Single Viewing of Jaspaert’s Antacid Spot

Jeroen Jaspaert was recently invited to create a new spot for Rennie Peppermint, an antacid product. By way of Tandem Films, he re-designed the characters, riffing off the ‘Cartoon Modern’ style, using Flash as his primary weapon. No symbol animation here – it’s traditionally animated, Cyntic-style. Nike’s “Quick Controls Chaos” Pushes Interactive Web Video Forward

I’ve always been fascinated by well produced video-based marketing sites, specifically the cross over between traditional video production and the interactive web. 5 years ago I interviewed Effekt-Etage‘s Bjoern Kowalski about the Avant-Garde of Interactive Flash Video, and we’ve seen many, many sites since then. It’s great to see Nike’s new “Quick Controls Chaos“ campaign pushing this a step further, [...]

Lightroom – Renaming Using Metadata

When you create a file naming template, inserting  tokens (such as Date, Image Name and Metadata), tells Lightroom to use that information (on a file-by-file basis) from the metadata of each individual file. If you prefer to enter your own information, either type it directly into the text entree box (this embeds it as part of the template), or add the Custom Text token (which will allow you to create a template which gives you the opportunity to enter custom text like a client name  without having to edit the template).
